Our California Trip Day 1 & 2
On April 22nd, we got all packed up and headed off to sunny California for our trip to San Diego and Disneyland!!! We spent a few days before planning, packing, shopping, and preparing for our trip. Nick had an early dentist appointment to get a crown on at 7:30 AM, and after a quick trip for me to the tanning salon to get a spray tan, we were off! It is a good thing we only have 2 kids, because we had the whole back end of the van packed! I tend to overpack when we go on trips! But I would much rather have too many clothes than not enough!
We stopped in Holden to eat a quick sandwhich and then we were back on the road until we got to Las Vegas. We checked into our hotel, the Stratosphere, and then with the help of our GPS found a Fazoli's for dinner. After dinner, we headed down to the strip by New York New York and MGM Grand to walk around and visit M&M World.
We had a bast filling bags with purple, black, lime green, and other fun colors of m&m's (even if they were $12.95/lb!!).

After some time walking around we headed back to the Stratosphere and took the kids to the top of the tower. I still can't get over how fast the elevator is in that place!
The next morning we got up and headed towards San Diego. We stopped in Barstow, CA for lunch, which was basically PB&J out of the back of the van, but Carson calls it a "Tailgate Party" and he kept asking to do it again the rest of the trip! We got to our hotel, Comfort Inn, on Friday afternoon. We got all settled in at the hotel and then headed for Mission Beach, which was just a short drive away from our hotel. It was sunny and warm, but a bit breazy, but we were still able to enjoy our time at the beach.
Kaylee wasn't so sure of the water or the waves, but Carson thought it was pretty fun!

Nick helped the kids make a Sand Castle and did a pretty good job I thought since we didn't have any buckets or shovels to use.

Kaylee got a bit chilly with the breeze, so she spent most of the time wrapped up in a beach towel.
After playing in the sand we found a little greek restaurant on boardwalk and had dinner. Then we walked around the amusement park of Belmont Park before heading back to the hotel.
I don't have pictures, but after we got back to the hotel, the kids and Nick took a swim at the hotel before going to bed. It was a fun way to start our vacation and it was just one of many more fun days to come!
