Trick Or Treat!

We have been ready for this night ALL week! So the kids were pretty excited to finally get to go trick or treating tonight! Technically we are one night early, but since tomorrow is Sunday, tonight is the night to trick or treat! After Nick got home from work, we ran some errands and picked up a Jack-o-lantern Pizza from Papa Murphy's for dinner. Then we got the kids ready to go! And got the candy all ready to pass out!


Even Nick put on his costume to go trick or treating with the kids!!!


It had been cloudy all day and I was hoping to get out and trick or treat before it started to rain. I was at least able to take a few pictures!
And then minutes later it turned into a HUGE rain storm!!!

We thought about waiting it out, but it didn't seem like it was going to stop anytime soon. So we figured out our only options were to trick or treat and get SOAKED or at least go see if there was a trunk or treat at the church that maybe we could join another ward in doing so we could minimize how wet we got. So we piled into the van and ran over to the church, and sure enough another ward was doing a trunk or treat, but they decided to do it inside because of the weather. So Nick walked around the gym with the kids while I handed out our candy. I was happy that the kids were able to get some candy and weren't freezing and wet while doing it! This was the only picture I took while we were there.

After we ran out of candy we headed back home. By this time it was still raining, but not nearly as hard. I dropped Nick and the kids off at the top of the block so they could do some trick or treating in the neighborhood while I ran to Kmart to get some more candy to hand out to kids that were brave enough to trick or treat in the rain. Shortly after I got back and after passing out candy to a few trick or treaters the kids made it home and they were SOAKED!!! They didn't make it too far in the neighborhood but far enough to get wet and cold. So after we got them out of their costumes they enjoyed some hot cocoa and marshmallows to help warm them back up!

Carson enjoyed the rest of the evening passing out candy to trick or treaters and we watched the Monsters vs. Aliens Halloween show on tv. We also played a hand of "Go Fish" using a little set of Princess playing cards Kaylee got trick or treating. It was a fun evening, even though the weather wasn't the best. We made the best of it and I think we got enough candy to last us until Christmas!

Dance Party!

Kaylee had dance class on Friday and they got to wear their Halloween Costumes. Afterwards, they took turns handing out candy to each other. There were quite a few princesses and fairies and they all looked SO cute!
Kaylee handed out Nerds for her treat! It has been a fun week celebrating Halloween! And we have gotten a lot of use out of our costumes this year!!!

School Parties!

Today Kaylee AND Carson both had class parties for Halloween! I didn't make it to Carson's party, but he said he had a good time, ate candy, and colored some fun Halloween pictures. After he got home from school, we met up with Kaylee at her preschool to attend her class Halloween party. They made a Skeleton and Spider Web!!! They were cute!
Then they sang us some school songs AND some fun Halloween Songs!!!

It was fun to see Kaylee and the kids do the actions and try to sing along with Miss Trish.

After they sang, we all ate cupcakes (with eyeballs on them!) and the kids got a trick or treat bag with candy that everyone brought to share!

We have already had so much fun celebrating Halloween this year and we still have two more days until it is actually here! And we still have a lot more Halloween Fun planned!!!!

EQ Halloween Party!

Last night we attended the 1st annual Elders Quorum Party for our ward. We all got dressed up in costumes. Here is our Little Princess and Ninja!
They had lots of activities to do, including eating donuts. However, you had to eat them from a string suspended in the air. It made for an interesting snack! (Do you like my costume? I was a flapper girl. Nick and I went to Kmart a few hours before the party looking for our costumes since they had them for 50% off. We managed to find a few costumes that would work great for what we needed! )

I thought Nick's costume was awesome! And he was really excited to wear it too!!! It is a bull rider and bull. Clever, huh? (It has a blower fan attached to the belt and it runs on batteries!).

The kids made bubbles and 'goop'. And they even had a pumpkin carving contest! Carson's pumpkin made it into the top 6, but I think that they needed a pumpkin to help represent the 'normal' pumpkin category!

There was a great turn out and it was so fun to see everyone dressed up, except for a few adults who were 'too cool' to dress up. JK! It was held at Paces Gym, which is a family who has this awesome gym building in their back yard! It was a great place to have it!

The home owners have a pet snake. But not just any snake but a BIG HUGE BOA!!!! The kids thought it was awesome, but most of the women chose to keep their distance!

I knew that Nick had Kaylee and was showing her the snake. Afterward, she came up to me and said "Mom, I kissed the snake!". Yep, she kissed it! So not only did she pet the snakes back, but she kissed it too!!!! I am glad I didn't see that part!

It was a great Halloween party!!!! We can't wait to do it again next year!!!!!!!

It's Pumpkin Time!!!

Last night for FHE we got together with our good friends, the Yospe's, to carve our pumpkins. We have carved pumpkins with them for the past 3 or 4 years. So it was fun to continue the tradition. In the past, the kids normally refuse to put their hands in the yucky pumpkin guts to get them cleaned out, but there was not ONE moment of hesitation from any of them!
Even Kaylee refused to let me help her clean out her pumpkin, she insisted she do it ALL by herself!

I have never been too creative or crafty when it comes to carving pumpkins so we ended up with a pretty good batch of 'normal' looking scary and happy pumpkins! Which works great for our family! However, there is an Elders Quorum Party tomorrow night and they are having a pumpkin carving contest. Who knows....maybe someone will think ours are the scariest looking pumpkins around! :) I just have to throw in this last picture of Kaylee being silly! She is NOT camera shy and loves to pull funny faces for me now when I take her picture! I am sure her new little sister will be the exact same way when she gets here!!!

Deer Hunt Weekend!

On Friday, after school and work, the boys headed down to Holden for the opening day of the Deer Hunt this year. They were joined by a lot of family who also joined the camp at the cabin for the weekend.
On Saturday Morning, Nick and his dad, uncles, and brother Jerid headed on top of the mountain to get the deer hunt started. They had good Luck and Nick shot his deer opening morning. Here is Jerid helping get Nick's deer off the mountain with his horses.

Back at base camp the little kids were having a blast just playing around! Aunt Joan brought beach balls and hockey sticks to help keep the kids entertained!

Not only did Nick get a deer but his Uncle Felix also got a deer that was quite big!

One of the highlights of the weekend was the pony! Our niece Austyn turned 5 last weekend and got a pony for her birthday. The kids LOVE it! It is a very gentle pony too. When Kaylee saw the pictures of the pony, she kept saying she wanted a little pony too. We may be in trouble now!

The weather was a little rainy and cold, but they still manged to have fun. However, a downpour on Saturday afternoon made for one watery mess back in town. These are pictures of the Nick's parents home, yard, shop, and farm.

It flooded the shop pretty good and the back yard mostly. Luckily no water got into the house, but it will quite a mess to clean up once it all dries! On Sunday, Nick and Carson went to church and then headed back up to the cabin for a yummy dutch oven dinner before coming home.

They had a wonderful time and Carson had many things to tell me about the weekend. I think next year Kaylee might have to go with them since I think she felt a little left out and really missed the boys while they were gone! I am so glad that Nick and Carson were able to have such a good time and create such fun memories!

Kaylee's First Field Trip

On Tuesday, Kaylee and I went to her first Preschool Field trip to the Pumpkin Patch in Farmington. This was the same place Carson went last year with his preschool. We played a bit in the maze before picking out a pumpkin!
Carson had told Kaylee all about the pumpkin patch and so she knew she would get to pick out a pumpkin. Before we went I asked Kaylee what kind of pumpkin she wanted. And she said "a small one!". So it was cute to see her look for a pumpkin and she made sure it was just the right size for her so she could carry it herself. Then we got to see the talking cowboy 'Tumbleweed'. She couldn't stop talking about him the rest of the day!

It was fun to be able to go with her and share this experience with her like I did with Carson. We had a fun time together!

It is cute to hear her talk about the pumpkin patch and Miss Trish (her teacher). She has been telling everyone about it that she sees and talks to! It makes me happy to see her so aware and involved in what she is doing and confirms that we made the right choice putting her in preschool this year! She is just eating it up!!
