Roadhouse Party!

Sorry, my blog is a little mixed up because I am so behind.  So bare with me while we backtrack a little bit.  Last Saturday we spent the day at home and just needed to get out of the house.  So we drove to SLC to look at washer and dryer sets, that didn't work out.  I took this cute picture of Livy on our drive...she is such a cutie!  We decided to eat at Texas Roadhouse for dinner.  I think I mentioned this in another post, but here are the pictures from our fun.  Kaylee that it was so great that she got to sit on the saddle.  The boy who did the announcement of her turning 5 did a great job and was super LOUD!  I think Kaylee was a bit startled by the whole thing and I have the video to show how fun it was!  We love the Roadhouse and it was another fun night of really good food and fun!

Happy Valentines Day!

Kaylee had her Valentines class party on Wednesday when she went to school. (Vday was on Thursday this year).  They had made a box on Monday during class for their Valentines.  She gave out Barbie Valentines with pencils this year and Carson gave out Angry Bird cards with tatoos.  I thought it would just be easier to stay away from candy since there will be plenty of that.  Kaylee came home with some really cute Valentines.
We spent Wednesday afternoon making cupcakes.  I took some with me to Heather when I got my hair done that day.  They were yummy!!!

The girls enjoyed helping me make them and eat them.  Later that night, Nick helped our friend Randall drive some supplies out to the house they are building in Grantsville and so we got to hang out with Virginia and Janell that night.  It was fun and the kids had a blast with them!  Thursday morning we made pink heart shaped pancakes for breakfast.  Carson was at least impressed, because he told me we should put them on pinterest!  So I think they liked them!  Kaylee was so cute and told me several times that day that she loved me.  Such a cutie!

Carson had his class party that day and also made a bag for his valentines.  I was glad that they did that at school and that we didn't have to make them on our own.  I made some chocolate strawberries that afternoon, which we all enjoyed after having dinner at Panda Express.  Yum!

I think Kaylee enjoyed licking the bowl more than anything else.  What do you think?  Haha!  While we were out with the kids for dinner, we stopped at home depot to look at paint colors and look at house stuff.  We are in the middle of trying to repaint our main living area and also our bedroom.  Our main area has been the same brown color since we moved in 8 years ago, so I think it is time for a change.  Overall it was a nice Valentines day!

Carson's last basketball night!

Last Tuesday was Carson's last night playing basketball for this season's Jr. Jazz.  Nick took the older kids and watched him play while I ran to walmart to get a few groceries.  I got back to watch the last bit of the scrimmage they were playing.  I think Carson had a fun time playing and he learned a little bit more about basketball.  I am sure he is excited for Tball this summer!

Daily Life!

This past week hasn't been anything extra special, but I think just our day to day life can be pretty busy and just crazy.  But I guess that is what happens when you have more kids!  Here are a few pictures I took with my camera and cell phone, depending on which was most convenient to grab at the moment.  These first pictures are of Carson last Sunday morning, who went out and started shoveling the snow by 7:30.  It was before even Dad was out of bed.  He is such a good kid!

I have no clue what day this was, but I took it because I was in the middle of folding clothes, dealing with Preston who was ready for a nap and was getting fussy, and Alivia was needing her diaper changed.  Nick had just texted me to see how my morning was going....so I took this picture and sent it to him.  I think he could tell how it was going!
Kaylee got a fun treat in the mail!  Dr. Reese sent her a Gift Certificate for Dairy Queen for being such a good patient when she was there for her 5 year check up and blood draw.  It is so nice of them to recognize her and how brave she was getting her shots and her blood drawn.  It made her day.
Most days Kaylee and Livy play pretty well together.  I am not sure what Livy will do next year when Kaylee has school every day!  This is what I found them doing the other day....playing mommy and baby.  Yes, that is Preston's binky (which he doesn't ever use) in Livy's mouth sitting in the doll stroller.  They are so funny sometimes!
Alivia will still nap every other day or so depending on her mood.  Last week she really was a grump but refused to go and lay down in her crib, so I grabbed her pillow and blanket and told her to lay on the couch and within minutes she was asleep.  And I was just glad to have a break from her grumpy mood so I could get some stuff done.  I thought it was cute though, since she has rarely slept anywhere but her crib.
Oh our little Preston is getting such a fun personality.  He is so happy for the most part and is always smiling.  I am so excited to see how he grows and be able to watch his personality grow with him!

Snow snow snow...I swear that is all it has done for the whole month of January and February so far...but we have actually had some sun the past few days and it has melted away some of that snow.  It has also been a little warmer, being in the 30's rather than the teens or twenties.  It makes me so excited for spring.  I can't wait until it warms up and the air clears out so I can run outside!  So fingers crossed that spring comes sooner than later!

Two Teeth! Really!!!!

So last Thursday I was surprised to find a tooth that had popped through Preston's cute gums!!  Then on Friday another one popped in!  So he is my youngest child at the age of four months to get teeth!  Wow!!!  That would explain why he has stopped sleeping through the night!  Finally, last night he slept through the night and it was very welcomed!!  I hope this means he will get back to normal!  I will have to take another picture because just since Saturday they have really come in and you can totally see them even better than when I took these pictures on Friday.

Oh Livy, she is so funny!  She put these cute headbands on her self...including the one she is using for a belt.  She has just become the funniest girl.  Her most favorite thing to do lately is watch (and sing and dance along to) Fresh Beat Band.  I will admit, I even like that show.  They have very catchy songs!
So Friday night, we got a babysitter and Nick and had a chance to go out.  We ate at Salt City Burger and then did some shopping for a washer and dryer, which we have decided to postpone getting until our current ones COMPLETELY die...which I am sure will be sooner than later since they are 12 years old now.  We also finally made the leap and changed cell phone carriers.  We switched from Verizon to Tmobile.  In theory, we should be able to lower our cell phone bill and now BOTH have smart phones, so I hope we aren't disappointed with this decision, but so far so good!  On Saturday, Nick didn't work but the boys were still up early so they could go and clean the church.  They had to be there by 7 and Carson was so excited to go and help out.  We spent the rest of the morning just running errands, cleaning, and playing.  By 2 we were going stir crazy in the house, so we headed to an appliance store in SLC to look at a washer dryer set, but ended up  not finding anything.  We got home and went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner, using an awesome gift card we had.  We also used the excuse of celebrating Kaylee's birthday as well.  She told us that is what she wanted to do and it has just been to crazy to find a night to take the family to the roadhouse until now.  So while we were there, Kaylee got to sit on the saddle!  It was awesome!  When we got home the kids helped me make a chocolate cake, complete with valentine m&ms.  It tasted SO good!!  By Sunday afternoon, it was gone.  Yum!

It was a fun week and it must have been crazy because I hardly remember what we did.  I really need to blog daily so I can remember what we did.  Until then, this is what I am able to accomplish...enjoy!

FHE

For FHE last Monday, Carson taught us about the first vision.  He learned about it in his class last week and so did Kaylee.  They even used Kaylee's visual aides.  It was cute!  We also read in the scriptures about how if you lack in faith or need help that you can always pray to your Heavenly Father.  We also sang the song we are currently learning in Primary, "My Heavenly Father Loves Me".  Since I am the primary chorister now, we used the poster I had made for primary.  Afterwards, we gave the kids some paint books to color with and had a treat.  Nothing fancy, but our kids love doing FHE, even it is a last minute plan.  I really need to work harder on having them better planned out, but at least we are trying, right?  Here are pictures from our fun night as a family.

Date night at the Symphony!

We got tickets to go see the Utah Symphony's Ballroom with a Twist at Abravanel Hall on Saturday, the 2nd.  It was awesome!  It had dancers from Dancing with the Stars like Chelsie Hightower (which I loved since watching her on SYTYCD!).  It also had former American Idol finalist singers and other dancers from SYTYCD.  Chris was able to come up and watch the kids so we could go out that night.  We headed downtown SLC and ate at the Blue Iguana (Mexican) restaurant and then did a bit of shopping at City Creek before going to the show at 8 PM.  Now that is LATE for us who normally like to be in bed by 8:30, but it was such a good show that we actually stayed awake the whole time!).
While we were at dinner, Nick ate something that bothered his right cheek and it was swollen the rest of the night.  Can you tell??  Poor guy!

It was such a fun night!  I am so glad I am married to someone so cool as Nick that enjoys the kind of things I enjoy, like the symphony, plays, and other musical theater.  Can't wait to have another date night like that again!

It's a start!!

I took advantage of the sunny weather (still cold...it was only 24 degrees) on Saturday after Nick got home from work and went on a run.  I have been working on my running using my treadmill, which I always find harder to run on than outside.  The run felt great and I was able to run the whole thing without walking and kept my mile under 10 min. I ran 3.02 miles in 29:22.  I was pretty stoked about it.  I know it isn't the greatest, but it is a start.  I have just a few more weeks until my real training starts for the half marathon.  I am so excited, my great friend Jen is going to run it with me too!  Love it!  Until then, I am just praying that the weather starts warming up and the air gets clean so I can continue to run outside.

Super Brave Kaylee!!!

Kaylee's 5 year check up!

Just wanted to share the pictures from Kaylee's dr appt.  The cutest thing was during her appointment, the nurse took her to check her vision.  She had Kaylee stand down the hallway while she pointed to the chart.  Alivia had to stand right next to Kaylee and when the nurse asked Kaylee to cover up her right eye and then her left, Alivia did it too.  It was so comical!!!  While we waited for the doctor we read books and played with my camera on my phone and took pictures.

I will post the video on another post, because I want to share how brave Kaylee was getting her blood drawn.  Even I do not like needles and can't normally watch when they poke me.  It is a good thing that our kids take after their dad and are so brave when it comes to stuff like this!

She was so awesome!  Way to go Kaylee!!!
