Labor Day Weekend in Holden

We headed down to Holden on Friday afternoon.  We decided last minute to take the trailer since we had the new truck and it ended up being a lot of fun!  We made it up to the cabin just in time for a hot dog dinner.  Uncle Ryan drove up from California and we really enjoyed spending time with him, especially Preston.  They got along very well and Ryan was so good to him.  

After dinner, we all enjoyed the beautiful evening and sunset.  Grandma even had glow sticks for the kids.

I got up early the next morning and was able to get in a run.  I did 4 miles, 2 up the canyon and 2 down.  It was really hard, but I felt pretty good about it.  

 We spent the rest of Saturday hanging out while the boys put the roof on the cabin.  They have added on a big room on the back of the cabin and it is going to be so great.  They were able to get most of the siding up too over the weekend.

 Saturday afternoon we took a drive up to the campground and enjoyed a little walk around.

Preston was quite a handful at the cabin, but also clever about things.  He knew where the string cheese was and at one point brought the whole pack outside to ask someone to open one from him.

 Sunday, we went to church and Kaylee sang her "Gethsemane" solo in Sacrament meeting.  She did great.

 We enjoyed visiting with Grandma Pace who came over from Delta to visit.  Karen's brother, Steve, passed away last Tuesday.  He had a brain tumor he has been battling the past few years and died from a complication with staff infection.  He lived in Minnesota but they are doing the funeral in Delta this Saturday.  We had a good visit, but you could tell she was struggling a bit.  It has been a hard year for their family.  First Grandpa Pace and now Uncle Steve.  So sad.

 We had yummy dutch oven chicken and potatoes for dinner with the yummiest apple cobbler for dessert!

I was able to get in another run Monday, 5 miles that time.  Still just as hard.  We stayed until 2 before we cleaned out the trailer (we left it there until we go back down for the deer hunt) and got cleaned up at grandma's house before we headed home.  Even though it can be a lot of work and very dirty, it was still a fun trip to the cabin.  The kids didn't want to go home, but they are excited to get to go down there for a quick trip this weekend.
