On Thursday, the 26th, we got up early and headed down to Holden. We played with the cousins until it was time to head to Delta for some skating! We celebrated our niece, Savanah's, 7th Birthday at the roller rink in Delta. I was a little concerned how fun it would be since the last time we tried skating with the kids last year, it was a lot of work and the kids gave up after just a few minutes of trying. But boy what a difference a year can make! The two older kids did awesome, and after just a few minutes of me working with them they were both out skating on their own. Carson even got brave enough and was doing a fun little move where he would tuck into a ball and have someone push him from behind really fast. He was awesome at it! Even Alivia was great all on her own. She wasn't fast, but she held her own and wouldn't let anyone help her. The only problem we had with her is that she was having TOO much fun and had an accident because we couldn't get her to the potty in time...but luckily we had an extra pullup in the diaper bag and her snow pants in the van. So she spent the last little bit of skating in style! We enjoyed some pizza for dinner and then had cake when we got home, since no one wanted to stop skating long enough to have cake! Preston didn't skate of course, but he had fun riding with me and Nick, and just running around the floor. We had the rink to ourselves, so I wasn't too worried about him and he had a ball. He thought it was so funny when I would skate right over his head. He would just laugh and laugh. And when the disco ball came on he was mesmerized by the lights on the floor. It was so funny! It was so much fun and every one really enjoyed it. We can't wait to do it again soon! It was a little comical to hear all the kids complaining about their sore bums the next day...since they did spend quite a bit of time falling on the floor, but they still would do it all over!
We had quite a time trying to get all of our family together for a picture since we had a few tumbles while trying to hold still. This picture is funny...Kaylee fell and Livy is in mid fall. So funny! The next day we just slept in and the kids did some more playing. They also did some sledding down the hill across the street from Gma's. We headed home later on Friday and got home in time to make some Ham Fettuccine using the ham we had on Christmas day. It was really good!
