Bread & Curls!

Monday, I had a chiropractor appt to help with some lower back pain I have been having.  Then school, piano, and since Nick was still in Tremonton until 6:30 it was all a little crazy with just me at home.  As soon as he got home though, I darted out the door with Kaylee, Jan P. and Tina  A. from the primary presidency to go visit a girl from our ward that was in the hospital.  The girl, Sennika, is a cute little precious girl with the biggest testimony.  She is Kaylee's age so Kaylee insisted on going.  She was in the hospital with a reaction to medicine that caused her sores all over her face, mouth, and body and she was really really sick.  I showed Kaylee a picture before we went to make sure she knew what to expect.  We visited for about 20 minutes and were getting ready to leave when she passed out and hit her head on the bed and her chin on the floor.  It took a split second for me to realize what had just happened, but before I knew it, 3 nurses were there and turning her over to make sure she was ok.  They gave her some juice and a cold washcloth for her head.  I think she wasn't really freaked out with how her friend looked, but it still made her a little queezy, and she said her tummy was a little upset and then she got dizzy.  It was quite comical after we made sure she was ok.  We got to hang out for another 15 minutes until Security came up to make sure everyone was ok.  I tell you what, Primary Children's has the best staff!  I can only imagine the care they give to their patients, with how they treat the visitors!  :) 

Tuesday, Alivia had talking time and then I took both Alivia and Preston with me to my ear doctor appointment.  It was just a followup from an ear infection I had a few weeks ago.  They actually held pretty still for me and we were in and out very quick.

Wednesday, I made some bread while the kids were at school.  Karen taught me how to make it over the weekend and I was excited to give it a try.  It totally worked out!  I have since made bread about 4 more times!  It is practically fool proof and the kids love it.  I think I won't have to buy bread ever again!

 Thursday, Kaylee was super excited for her field trip to the Red Butte Gardens.  We curled her hair and so Alivia wanted her hair curled too.  They both looked adorable.  In fact, after I dropped Livy off at school, her teacher texted me "What Cute Hair!".  She is just cute all the time!

Friday, I watched Dawn's kids while she was in California running Ragnar.  It was the least I could do since she watches my kids all the time!  We took a cute picture of them cheering her, and Kimberly (her sister) on.  We also got to watch them for a few hours on Saturday morning, which Kaylee loved since she loves holding Ryan all the time!  

We spent Friday evening cleaning out Kaylee's closet and room and started getting things organized for the move.  We still have about 2 months, but I think it will be easier to do a little at a time and start getting things organized to make it easier.  It was a busy week, like normal!

Our favorite tradition!

Of course with conference come conference cakes!  We made it back from Holden Saturday evening, so we were able to make them on Sunday morning during conference.  We did miss Dad however, since he headed up to Tremonton to help Tiffany with a rental house she is needing to sell.  He was there until Monday evening, but we were able to send up some conference cakes with Chris, Krissy, and Austin when they stopped by on their way home from the morning session of conference.  I let Kaylee have control of the camera and she took some pictures of us making the and of the kids.  I was amused by some of the pictures she got!  It was a fun day of listening to conference and doing a lot of laundry from our weekend in Holden.  I try not to do laundry on Sunday, but I knew I had a busy Monday so I needed to get it done!  I love conference time!

A Saturday Ride

After the egg hunt, we headed off for another ride Saturday afternoon.  This time we road up Wide Canyon with Papa and Grandma.  It was even better weather making the ride a lot of fun.  We all got a kick out of how easily Preston fell asleep on the ride each day.  I wish I could nap that easily!  

 We love to ride the fourwheelers.  The only downside is how dusty and dirty we all get and the clean up it takes to get us all back to normal.  I loved how dirty Preston's face was when we got home.  We all looked about that way.

 Before we headed for home, we took the kids down to a neighbors house that had some baby chicks, turkeys, chickens, goats, and a cute little pony.  Preston just loved them all.  It was so cute to see him not be afraid at all around them.

We had leftovers for dinner and then headed home around 6.  If the amount of laundry from our days spent in Holden was any indication of how much fun we had, then it was a lot!

Easter Egg Hunt

After the kids came down from the cabin, the kids got to have an easter egg hunt.  The Easter Bunny did a good job putting eggs all over the back yard.  They got baskets of new socks, books, flip flops, and candy. 

 Alivia was so cute.  Every egg she opened, she had the most surprised and happy face.  She is just the sweetest most genuinely grateful little girl.  She makes me happy.

 These two kids were also excited about what they got, but I heard alot of whining and arguing about who got what and how many more eggs the other one got.  I hope it is just a phase, but those two can really be at each others throats.  It is hard as a parent to watch your child be greedy and rude.  I try so hard to give my kids everything, but how do make sure not to spoil them either?  We tried keeping it simple this year with Christmas and Easter, mainly so our kids don't expect so much every year and keep to the true meaning behind these holidays.  But I still feel like we can do a better job teaching our kids to be humble and gracious, but I am still figuring out how to do that exactly.  Overall, we still had a lot of fun with the egg hunt!!!  And every one was happy, especially Preston who enjoyed opening each egg when he found it and eating the candy or giving it to Grandma.  Most of the time the eggs would just end up on the ground for another kid to pick up empty.  He loves tootsie rolls so he was in heaven!

Our Real Spring Break

We knew after getting the fourwheelers last fall what we would be doing for our spring break this year:  Riding Fourwheelers at the Cabin.  We set out for Holden Wednesday after Nick and Carson got home from their dental checkup.  We made it to Gma and Papa's house by a little after 6 and baked some Papa Murphy's pizza I picked up earlier in the day using some coupons.  The whole time we were down there we enjoyed Gma's homemade bread.  She even taught me how to make it, so my goal is to try it on my own this week.  If I can master it, I plan on using that instead of buying bread from now on.  It is so good!  It was so cold Thursday, and at one point even started snowing, so we mostly just staying inside.  Luckily we had the cousins to play with before they went camping on Friday.  Thursday evening we were able to go to the Cabin and have dinner (enchilada bake) and ride the fourwheelers around a bit.  

 Friday we finally went out on our first real ride.  Papa was even able to come with us so it made it a lot of fun.  We went up Wild Goose Canyon, which was fun since that is where Nick proposed to me almost 15 years ago.  We haven't been back since, so it was a little special that way.

 The sun was out, but it was still a bit chilly.  We even found snow when we got to the top of the trail.  The kids enjoyed throwing a few snowballs and Carson and Nick used it to do donuts on the fourwheelers.

 We went back down over Scipio Summit where the big red radio tower is.  The view was amazing from up there!  We made it back in time for some dutch oven chicken and potatoes for dinner at the Cabin.  The older kids stayed with Grandma at the cabin overnight and had the time of their lives from what I heard.

The one thing that I always enjoy about the cabin (there a few things I don't enjoy, like no power and water) is the sunsets.  The evenings are always so peaceful there and it is very nice to just sit around a camp fire and watch the sun go down.  I imagine how much fun this place will be as my kids get even older to really appreciate it.
