Happy Birthday Uncle Chris & Brittany M!

It is a good thing our church is at 1:00 this year because last week I was able to get my singing time ready  before church.  It was ward conference and I knew someone from the stake primary presidency would be there so that just made it even more stressful!  I ended up doing a simple game of Song or Dare and it went awesome!  After church we hurried up to Matt & Nat's for dinner, if that is what you would call it.  It was basically waffles....but cake batter cooked in waffle irons.  With frosting for the topping.  It was yummy! We were celebrating Chris's birthday!

 On Monday, we were invited to help celebrate Brittany's birthday and had cake and enjoyed Family Home Evening with them!  It was a lot of fun!  I am so grateful to have such a good friend and neighbor like Brittany!

Syllabus Portion of the Competition

Once the team competition was finally over they set the floor up for Syllabus.  Syllabus is where all the kids have partners and they run heats of different dances that they judge and have top 6 winners in each category.  Sometimes they have to have several rounds because they have so many kids in that heat.  Carson and Kaylee danced the swing in the Bronze level (which means they have had 1 year experience I think).  They ended up taking 5th place in their heat, after doing 3 rounds!  They did great!  Kaylee danced the Paso and the Foxtrot with Adam in the Bronze level.  They took 3rd in Paso an 2nd in Foxtrot.  Carson danced in the newcomer level with the Paso and the Foxtrot and took 3rd in one and 6th in the other.  I was so pleased that they ended up placing in each dance they did!  That is a hard thing to do and they did it!!!  It was a great day!!!  

We finally left the competition around 7:30 and stopped at Panda with Stephen and his mom Cindy for dinner.  It was delicious!  We made it home around 9 and went straight to bed!  We were all exhausted!  

Ballroom Competition at Sky View HS

On Saturday, February 25th, the kids had a ballroom competition at Skyview HS in Logan.  We got up really early and left by 6:30 AM to get there for the team competition.  They were so excited to perform!  They did a dance to "You're Never Fully Dressed without a Smile" from Annie.  It was adorable and they did amazing.  They ended up getting 2nd place.  They scored 94.1 which is a superior rating and the team who beat them only won by 1 point.  That team was made up of some pretty experienced dancers.  I remember some of them from last year who you could tell have been dancing since they could walk!  I couldn't be more proud of Kaylee and Carson for doing such a good job!!

 I spent all day sitting on the bleachers watching the team competition and syllabus.  Luckily I had some company.  Marisa's good friend Shanda was there and we kept each other company all day!  It was great having her there.  My mom eventually joined us for a little bit, but it was mostly just us moms holding down the fort.  She had saved us some great seats, right next to the judges.

Brookdale Performance

On Thursday the 23rd, the kids performed at Brookdale assisted living after school.  I juggled my piano students around so I could take them.  Nick ended up being stuck at home with the internet guy trying to fix all of our wiring for our internet and wasn't able to make it.  The kids did great and it was a great way for them to practice for the competition coming up on Saturday.  They performed their team dance and also did some of their syllabus dances like the swing, foxtrot and Paso.  

District Science Fair

I am still teaching 6th grade music and we are still learning Ukuleles.  Carson seems to be picking it up pretty well.  

 On Thursday, February 23rd, Carson was able to go to the District Science fair held at the fair grounds.  He had to be at the school by 7:30 to catch the bus, so we dropped him off before choir, dropped of the smaller kids at Danielle's and then headed back to choir.  That afternoon I got a call from Kaylee who was upset because a dry erase marker blew up all over her favorite pants.  Luckily, with a little bit of rubbing alcohol I was able to get 99% of it out.

The girls had tumbling Thursday afternoon and Carson had Cello lessons.  He is loving the Cello, which makes me happy!  He also had a great time at the district science fair.  He mostly talked about the two cute girls he got to sit by!  It was so funny!  Friday, we had a busy day with extra ballroom practice, violin, and voice.  We had gone to the store earlier in the day and got some grapes, and Alivia made a 'fruit salad' with her grapes and an orange.  She insisted I take a picture of it.  She is a cutie!

On Friday afternoon I had also had an eye lash appt and no one to watch Preston, so I checked Carson out for a long lunch and took both my boys to McDonalds for lunch and then he stayed and watched him just a for a bit at home before I took him back to school.  It was a fun little day date!

Goin' to the Chapel of Love

Wednesday was another busy day!  The kids had early morning orchestra, Nick took Preston to do more roofing in Tremonton, I taught 6th grade music, piano lessons, kids had ballroom class, followed by a singing rehearsal for me!  Whew!  Our singing group got asked to sing at a North Ogden Stake Social on Saturday.  So we put together a love song medley and a slow song to do.  After we practiced at the stake center I took the kids to dinner at Arby's since it was already getting late and I was too tired to cook!    

 Thursday was the last day of school this week for the kids since Friday was teacher comp day.  I had a choir meeting that morning then Preston had speech at 9:30.  We stopped by Mrs. Chertudi's room to ask her a question and her class was doing a dance dance revolution dance that the kids loved, so when we got home they wanted to do more dancing, so I found some on youtube they could do.  Preston enjoyed watching more than actually dancing! Haha!  Thursday afternoon was full of piano lessons, gymnastics, and cello lessons like normal!

 Friday, we had violin/voice lessons at 11, then the kids had an extra ballroom practice from 3:30-5.  Nick had a busy afternoon getting Carson's truck home from Roy.  Since it had been raining lately, there was a lot of getting stuck in the mud!  Yes...Carson's truck!  Nick found this truck that needs a new engine and some work done on it that will make the perfect project truck for him and Carson.  Hopefully, it will be done before he turns 16!  That gives them over 4 years, so I think it will happen!

 The kids finally got on their way to Holden for the weekend and that left me with a quiet house for a few days!  On Saturday, I was able to go do some shopping with Melissa and Katie for some outfits for our performance that night.  We even did lunch at Zupa's!  Yum!  We met at the church that afternoon at 4:30 to do a run through.  My mom and dad were able to come and watch me and be my dates since Nick was out of town.  We had a yummy dinner and I think we did a pretty good job singing!  It was so fun!  We did a medley of "Goin' to the Chapel of Love", "My Guy", and "It's in His Kiss".  Then we did "To Make you Feel my Love", with Brent Hales on Violin.  It was beautiful!

I have loved singing with these ladies and I feel so blessed to have them as my friends!  It was fun getting to know Gina better (our piano player)!  We have so much in common and we are both in the IHC Live Well cycling club. (Her husband is the President of it!).  It was such a great weekend!  Today church was a little different not having the whole family with me, and a lot of people were out of town so we had a small primary!  15 in Jr. and 9 in Sr, but singing time still went well!  The family will be home tomorrow later, but I am hoping to spend some time with my mom in the afternoon before getting back to the routine of normal life!
