Halloween Carnival

Last night we went to a Halloween Carnival, put on by our ward's YM/YW.  They have done this carnival the past few years and so our kids were super excited about it.  They especially wanted to wear their costumes!  Carson is a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Kaylee is a cheerleader, Alivia a princess, and Preston a cute little lion!  They had a blast playing all the games and being with their friends. I loved seeing the kids dressed up and having such a good time!   

When Preston was born, there were quite a few other babies born within a few weeks as well, and it was so cute to see a few of them at the carnival, all walking around. Here is Preston with his friends Wyatt and Emily.  They are all so cute!

With a piano recital and some class parties coming up the kids will have some more opportunities to wear their costumes before Halloween next week!  Should be fun!

Conference just a little late...

This is just a few weeks late, but I totally forgot I took pictures with the big camera during conference!  Even though it is late, I still want to share the pictures from our Sunday of Conference.  I made conference cakes, which the kids were ecstatic for!  We invited our neighbors and friends, the Nelsons, over to enjoy the conference cakes.  Then we enjoyed some time with Uncle Chris during the 2nd session and dinner!

Just wanted to share so they wouldn't be long gone on a hard drive and never to be seen.

Lazy Saturday and Sunday

Since we did so much Thursday and Friday, we kept it pretty low key on Saturday.  Nick worked a few hours and when he got home, he watched the kids so I could do a bit of shopping by myself.  That was really nice.  The kids spent most of the day playing with friends.  We had french dip sandwiches for dinner and then for dessert we made caramel apples.  It was a bit sticky, but they were yummy!  We all went to bed early since we had church the next day, but since we were all worn out, no one really complained about that!  

 So for singing time on Sunday, I had the Elders who are serving in our area (and live in our ward boundaries) come and help me.  We played cut the tie game.  The kids liked it!  I had a child come up and pick a question that someone would ask a missionary about the church.  The Elders took turns answering the questions and then telling us a song we could sing to go with the answer.  After the kids sang, I took out a pair of scissors and cut off a piece of the Elders Tie to give to the best singer as a prize.  The Elders did a great job of playing along and picking a child to give the piece of tie to.  Don't worry, I bought them ties at the DI so we didn't cut their own ties.  It was a fun singing time, and since we were talking about missionary work it worked out perfect!  Here is a picture of the missionaries with their cut ties after Jr. Primary!

 On a side note....I had posted this picture on FB and one of my friends commented that it is too bad that their moms couldn't see this picture.  That was what I was thinking too when I posted it.  But then what happened next was awesome!  My FB Friend, Ginger von Kampen, happens to be his mom!!!  She is my mom's first cousin.  My Great Grandma, Pearl Forrey, is both mine and Elder von Kampen's great grandma.  (He is the blonde one).  Our grandma's are sisters.  She had posted that he is her son!  I about died!!!  I don't know her super well, and so I didn't even consider that possibility a few weeks ago when we had them over for dinner!  I had planned on making them cookies to tell them thank you for helping in Primary, so I made some and took them cookies last night and also told Elder von Kampen that we were 2nd cousins.  We got a good laugh out of it.  It was hilarious!!!  What a small world!  After church and lunch, we decided to take a drive up to Farmington Canyon.  It was beautiful weather and it was an amazing place to go on such a perfect fall day.

 After a short ten minute drive we made it to this beautiful pond and enjoyed walking around the trails and around the shore.  It was such a perfect day with perfect weather.  I seriously couldn't ask for a more perfect way to spend a Sunday.

So between a fun day at church, meeting my 2nd cousin and enjoying the beautiful weather with my amazing family, it was really one of the best days ever!

Fall Break-Day Two

We started our second day of Fall break doing some cleaning, playing, and Nick even worked a few hours before we headed to Farmington to Patch's Pumpkin Patch.  The kids had a blast in the hay maze and even more fun picking out the pumpkins in the field.    

 We also made a drive through Kaysville up to Layton and picked out some BIG pumpkins at another pumpkin patch.  On our way home we decided to stop at Farmington Station.  It was another beautiful day and it was just so nice to sit and watch the kids play and soak up the fall crisp air and sun.  I think the Farmington Station is a really nice place to play, eat, and shop.  After we played around the playground and fountains for a bit we decided to do an early dinner at Johnny Rocket's.

 We all enjoyed our hamburgers, but Preston had pretty much had it and was really needing a nap, so this is what we dealt with most of dinner.

 After dinner we made a quick stop at home and grabbed our swimming stuff and headed to the rec center for some fun in the water!  Preston LOVED it!  Even though he was tired, he had a blast and was all smiles in the water.  He used his little floaty as a walker and walked all over the shallow end.  The bigger kids enjoyed the deeper end and the lazy river.  I love that they are older now and can really swim and have fun.  Carson even showed us how he can go off the high dive.  It was awesome!

After swimming we got home and bathed the kids and got ready for bed.  It was another amazing and exhausting day of fun.  The kids were a little sad that we didn't go camping, but they kept thanking us for all the fun and for letting them eat out.  Twice!!  So I think fall break was a success!
