Miss North Ogden Pageant

During the summer, Kaylee got the idea to compete in the Miss North Ogden pageant in September!  I was surprised, but happy to help her achieve this goal!  She did amazing and I couldn't be prouder of her!  She played the piano for her talent and did fantastic!  She came home with the award for Miss Photogenic, but did not place.  Even though she didn't win, she learned so much and says she wants to do it again next year!  We will see!  Here are some pictures from that night! Road House, Fiiz and VM!

We did an early birthday trip to Texas Road house for Preston, or at least that is what we called it so he could ride on the saddle!   It was fun!  We went back to in person appointments for Kaylee and her endocrinologist.  Stopped at Fiiz on the way home to use up a gift card!  And it feels so good to be back at Vocal Motion singing!!!  

 

More fall soccer for Preston and Homecoming for Carson!  He was so excited to go with a super cute girl, Taylee Wurm.  They are in seminary together and we know their family.  (Her little brother is in Vocal Motion).  It is so fun that Carson is old enough to date!  he actually took Hailey Ashby to Davis High School's homecoming a week before Weber High's Homecoming!  I will have to post those pictures next!  

 

First weeks of September!

 The first few weeks of September were busy with getting back to school, the start of choir and getting ready for dances and pageants.  But we found time for fun and enjoyed getting back into the school routine.  

Happy Birthday Grandpa Brower! 70!

The morning of August 28th, Kaylee had a pageant workshop where she was able to present her platform.  She did amazing and it was fun to see her in action.  Her platform is called Braydon's Warriors, and is a teen suicide awareness platform. 

Carson has been working hard all summer mowing lawns for Greentouch, and used his own money to buy a lawn mower to make mowing his own lawns a little easier.   

That evening, we headed to Tremonton where we had a fun party for my Dad's 70th Birthday!  Our whole family was there!  Matt made some smoked brisket and the weather was perfect!  I always love spending time with my family!!!  The kids had a blast playing with Austin's climbing gear and with Grandma's costumes.  It is crazy to think my dad is 70!!  I remember when it turned 40!  We were at Marisa's soccer game and I remember bringing him black over the hill balloons!  Haha!  I would have been 10 years old.  It is crazy to think that I am 40 now!!  

 

Costco Craziness!

Kaylee and I had a fun time shopping for an interview outfit for her pageant and decided to stop at Costco on our way home.  I threw my back that morning and I could hardly walk. I convinced Nick to let me pick him up from work so he could help me with all the heavy stuff I needed to get. As we were (slowly) walking in, Kaylee joked when she saw a wheelchair that she could push me in it and I laughed at first but quickly agreed that was actually a really good idea! So we made our way around Costco and filled up both the cart and my little basket and my lap! After we checked out, we started heading to the car through the parking lot and that is when all chaos ensued.

Our first mistake was not leaving the wheelchair at the door, but since I had so much stuff on top of me we headed into the parking lot.

Second mistake was when I told Kaylee not to let anyone run me over. As we made it to the first crossing of traffic a man in a jeep stopped to let us go by. I wanted Kaylee to keep pushing me on the asphalt but making sure I didn't get ran over, she turned and wanted to push me up to a sidewalk and get me out of the road. Before I even had a chance to tell her to stay on the asphalt she turned the wheelchair and I came to an abrupt stop at the curb. I knew it was not going to be a smooth transition but It was like even worse than I anticipated. I glance at the jeep guy and see him giggling...as Kaylee tries again and again unsuccessfully and it feels like the wheelchair is falling apart.

I finally tell her, between my laughing and embarrassment, to just stay on the asphalt. She turns me back the right way and we hear this metal clinking on the ground. We both look and see the wheelchair foot pedal laying on the ground. By this time Kaylee and I are laughing uncontrollably and the jeep had started backing up to give us more room but he is now laughing at this point as well. Let me add, this is also right in front of the main doors...so I am sure there were several people laughing at us. Even Nick started going the other way to avoid being associated with us.

I tell Kaylee to pick up the pedal piece and to just keep going. At this point I am in tears because we are both laughing so hard. We go as quickly as we can to the van parked way over by the gas pumps with a huge load of groceries in my cart and lap while Kaylee is pushing me with this metal pedal in her hand.

We made it to the van, all of us laughing the whole time. Maybe it doesn't sound funny, but I am posting this so I won't forget about our costco wheelchair adventure. It's been awhile since I have laughed so hard!!

We enjoyed Dr. Broadbent's pool  party that weekend as well and did an okay job getting some door prizes and dance off prizes!

Preston had a soccer game and is really liking his team and coach.  Grandpa Brower came to cheer him on!
